Q: Can Unifix Fine be applied outside or in a shower cubicle?
A: Yes, this high-bonding power primer for Venetian plasters is suitable for wet rooms, plasters applied in shower cubicles or any lime-based finish being applied outside.
·
Q: Do I really need a primer or base coat? Why isn’t a simple mist coat suitable?
A: Yes, a primer is needed to ensure proper bonding and to create a lasting finish. Please be aware that lime-based Venetian plasters bond imperfectly with most modern materials if the surface hasn’t been prepared properly. Unifix fine is a tested and proven solution that we can recommend and know that it works.
·
Q: Why is it advisable to use a fixative (to consolidate the surface) before Unifix fine in some cases?
A: Gypsum plaster needs time to chemically strengthen, other times, when planning the application on old walls it needs to be considered that the surface needs to be stabilised before plastering can commence. Therefore the manufacturer and also, Impera Italia strongly advises to use our fixative before applying the primer. Our primer creates a strong bonding coat, but an impregnated and stable surface enhances the durability significantly!
·
Q: Why do you offer a textured and a smooth primer? Why are there different primers?
A: This textured primer is not just suitable for exterior areas, wet rooms and interiors, but more importantly, the sand gives better grip and creates a better base for decorative plaster applications. Please be aware that for smooth and metallic finishes a fine, smooth primer should be used.
·
Q: What’s the shelf life of this product?
