Velature is an Italian water-based colour wash, traditionally used for cloudy or antiqued effects. The natural siloxane base enables Velature to be applied exterior and interior and provides great breathability and water repellency. Velature is highly suitable for both traditional and contemporary finishes.

Colour washes are at the heart of Italian decor and are invaluable when creating patina, aged effect or shading on decorative plasters like Marmorino, Travertino, Powderstone or Intonachino. Furthermore, it can be put on top of fibrous, gypsum, lime and silicate plasters.

Currently, if you need a high-level Italian colour wash for Venetian plasters we offer Samba.

Impera Italia’s Advice™

Once a colour which is suitable for the project was purchased the shade can be lightened as much as 100% with water. Should only be applied lightly and once the effect has been worked out, subsequent coats or simply a bit more Velature here and there can finalize the effect.

Trivia
