Marcopolo is not only easy to apply, but you can create a variety of 3D effects, similar to stones or prestigious (metallic) wall papers. As the finish dries very fast you should make sure to create the effect a few minutes after putting the paint on the wall, one square metre at a time.
Most of the grit can be taken away with a sponge in case you’re looking for an almost smooth or barely textured finish.
Marco Polo (born in the 13th century in Italy) was the first traveler who provided Europe “with a comprehensive look into the inner workings of the Far East” and inspired travelers like Christopher Columbus and many others.
Q: I
s this product waterproof? Can this product be applied in wet rooms or shower cubicles?
A: This product should not get in direct contact with water or affected by strong humidity (eg. bathrooms, steamrooms, etc). For more information please contact our sales team.
·
Q: Can you put Marcopolo over tiles?
A: It shouldn’t be applied directly on them, but if you would like to keep the texture and overall look of the tiles and combine it with the effect of Marcopolo, technically it is possible! You only need to apply a coat of primer and once it’s dry you can put on the paint. For a seamless effect please apply a plaster on top of the tiles or remove them!
·
Q: Can Marcopolo be applied on floors?
A: No, it’s not suitable for floors. Please see our microcement system for a decorative coating on floors.
·
Q: How durable are these finishes? Is Marcopolo scratch proof?
A: Due to the acrylic nature of this finish it’s exceptionally durable, but as it only applied on a single coat it can be scratched by harder materials. On the other hand it’s very easy to repair it, only a sponge and a few drops of the paint are needed and the finish will be like new!
·
Q: How accurate are your colours?
A: As Marcopolo is an acrylic paint, colours are 99.5% accurate and repeatable, but please be aware that the colour is affected by the product’s iridescence. Metallic paints, as they reflect the light much more than standard emulsions, will show different effects under different lights and eventually each observer will see different shades from different angles.
·
Q: How resistant are the colours?
A: This metallic finish has exceptional colour resistance and no colour change has been observed yet.
·
Q: Do I really need a primer? Is PVA suitable as a primer?
A: Yes, you do need a special primer. PVA and other glues can not ensure proper bonding, look and durability and the look might deteriorate very quickly.
·
Q: What do we have to do if one day we want to re-do the wall?
A: This Italian finish should only be sanded and primed, or alternatively, the texture can be covered with fillers or gypsum plaster.
·
Q: Do I need a specialist to apply Marcopolo?
A: You do not, only if you are looking for detailed, artistic and/or multicoloured applications.
·
Q: How long does Marcopolo remain usable?
A: Marcopolo has a shelf life of 2+ years. Please be aware that this product should not be exposed to air for a longer period of time as it dries quite fast.
