Puntinato is a decorative plaster with mineral binders that allows you to create various detailed, stone-like decorative effects in a variety of textures or a smooth ‘Marmorino’ look. This lime-based decorative plaster is enriched with marble grains of various colours, and these little “dots” (‘puntino’ in Italian) give any feature a natural, organic look.
With Puntinato you will chose one of the traditional Italian wall finishes that you can still see in palazzos and other high-end properties.
‘Puntinato A’ has added oxide red powder with gray, brown and oxide red/brown grit, ‘Puntinato B’ is pure white base with gray, oxide red/brown coloured marble grit, meaning that the latter’s putty base is of a lighter colour (almost pure white) than the former’s.
Compared to other decorative plasters with coloured grains, you will see that ‘Puntinato’ of CAP Arreghini provide a more detailed natural look.
Before using this plaster you will need to apply the primer Unifix. Once this is completed, you should protect it with Impera Wax. Make sure you are using the right tool, a Venetian plastering trowel.
Impera Italia’s Advice™
The best decorative results employing ‘Puntinato’ can be achieved with light, off-white colours; the pigments of dark colours suppress the beauty of the dots. This Venetian plaster finish combines simplicity with detailed look.
Puntinato means ‘stippled’ and is actually one of the affects that makes many stones and marbles look polychromatic (multi-coloured).
A: This lime-based decorative plaster is suitable for interior-exterior decor. In showers or in interiors where water might get in contact with it, extra protection should be applied. Please let us know if you would like to know more about the possible protective options.
Q: How durable is Puntinato?
A: This is a mineral-based, chemically hardening plaster and turns into a limestone within a few years. Furthermore, the aggregates make it even more hard. On the other hand, for projects where exceptional durability is required, please consult our sales team.
Q: How accurate are the presented colours?
A: Colours are based on real, applied samples and the industrial colouring methods ensure great accuracy. The deviation is very small, but still, due to the natural nature of the material and because application can change the look, we advise you to purchase a tester pot and/or consult with your specialist.
Q: What’s the colour resistance of Puntinato?
A: First of all, the colourants are inserted and mixed with the plaster. Also, due to the formulation of the pigments and the nature of the material, the resistance is well above average for most, if not all colours except the very dark ones.
Q: Is a primer really necessary? Can I apply PVA as a base?
A: PVA is generally not interior-exterior and definitely not created to act as a bonding agent for these lime plasters. The correct primer guarantees the look and durability of the finish!
Q: What is needed when the wall has to be redone?
A: Like with many other finishes, any texture should be covered and then the surface should be sanded and primed.
Q: Do I need a specialist applicator?
A: Please see the advised application difficulty, and based on that select the suitable options or contact our sales team for more information.
Q: Can you confirm the shelf life of Puntinato?
A: When stored under the correct conditions the product stays applicable for at least a year.
