Continuo Microcement with Protego is a multi-layered coating system designed to be applied on walls, floors and ceilings in domestic and medium traffic commercial projects. Microcement provides a seamless coating that can enhance any room. It does not require any grouting and can be applied directly onto existing solid floors or tiles (the anti-crack system is mandatory for floors and highly encouraged for walls). These benefits, make it a fantastic system to use for not only wet room areas, but also floors and worktop surfaces, creating an uninterrupted modern look.

This kit consists of Protego (two component sealer) which will slightly shift the colour of your Microcement (therefore will be slightly darker than the Microcement Moodboard Set). This shift is very moderate, but the level of protection offered from the combination of the Continuo Kit with Protego has been crafted to cater to the more demanding projects.

Specifications

Complete Microcement application:

Primer - This can be the Atomo Primer which is suitable for porous substrates including cement boards, Aqua panels and Plywood. It can also be the Prolink primer which is suitable for non-absorbent substrates such as Microcement shower trays, tiles, metal or glass.

ANTICRACK SYSTEM (SOLD SEPARATELY):

The anti-crack system is composed of the Continuo Base basecoat, as well as 168gr glass fibre mesh. Depending on where the product is being applied, the anticrack system is a hugely important component that will prevent any cracking of the substrate. The anti-crack is a mandatory product for Microcement applications on floors, as it provides the tensile strenght in the system. Full strength is reached after 21 days, from the application of the last layer of the system.

Deco A+B - These 2 components make up the plaster, that will provide the colour and look to the whole application. Deco A, is the main plaster which is coloured to the desire shade. Deco B is a powder which is mixed into the Deco A to begin the hardening process. Bucket shelf-life is 2 hours from time the two componenets are combined.

Link A+B - Link is a bi-component penetrating pre sealer that is the first steps that slightly darkens the plaster. Link A is mixed with Link B, and a measure amount of water is added before being applied in a single coat.

Protego A+B - This bi-component sealer is designed to be applied on 2 coats, on top of the Link to provide a waterproof finish, this will also slightly shift the shade of the final colour. The Protego protector combined with the Continuo kit, creates a system that is suitable for medium traffic commercial projects. Available in Matt, Satin and Gloss.

Disclaimers

The Microcement system should only be applied by applicators that have prior experience with these types of coating systems. There are multiple layers to be applied, and each of the components require some level of mixing or manipulation in order to prepare the material. We recommend having mixing scales to hand when preparing material, to ensure that the mixing quantities are adequately adhered to.

We strongly advise that you contact us prior to ordering this product if you have any doubts or concerns about an upcoming project. Please note, the Protego protect is not included in the video, therefore you must refer to the mixing sheet document below.

Although our Microcement is a strong, and durable system, it carries with it certain limitations. We discourage from applying this material in areas that are likely to be prone to heavy staining such as hair salons, or coffee bars. We also do not recommend this product for use in commercial flooring environments with heavy foot traffic as this will accelerate the degradation of the product. HOWEVER, this kit can be used on medium-traffic commercial projects. If you have any reservations as to whether this product is right for you, please give us a call ahead of ordering the system.

Primer selection

Atomo - For porous substrates. 0.5L included as part of the kit.

Prolink - For non-porous substrates. This specialized primer can take the place of Atomo in the kit for an additional cost. Comes as 1L.

Is an Anticrack System required?

Optional - Recommended

The anticrack system is applied to prevent any movement of the substrate, from cracking the Microcement application. This is especially important in new builds, where foundations may still be settling in. If purchased as part of a microcement kit, an additional discount is applied.

*On floor areas or wet areas such as shower floors & walls, the anticrack system MUST BE APPLIED.*

This anticrack bundle contains:

1x 12.5kg Continuo Base basecoat.

1x 6m of 168gr fibreglass mesh.

Decorative Coat

Deco Component A

Deco Component A is the main plaster component of the Microcement system. This 7.5kg Bucket of material contains the desired colour for the application, and is prepared in house by us. This means that the colour will be ready when you receive the material.

Included as part of the kit.

Deco Component B

This is a 2.5kg bucket of powder that is mixed into the Deco A in order to achieve a working consistency, and eventually harden the plaster. This component is the same regardless of which colour is selected for the Deco A.

Link - Pre-sealer

Link Component A

Link Component A is the first part of this 2-part pre-sealer. The pre-sealer is applied onto a dry second coat of plaster, to penetrate and seal the pores of the application. This step darkens the finish finish slightly, meaning that only after this step, the full colour of the application can be appreciated.

For 5sqm, 0.05L is Included as part of the kit.

Link Component B

Link Component B is mixed together with Link Component A and additional water is added. This creates the complete mix of pre-sealer that is then rolled over the decorative coat.

For 5sqm, 0.025L is Included as part of the kit.

Protego - Finishing Sealer

Protego Component A

Protego Component A is the part of the system that determines the sheen level of the final application. Available in Matt, Satin and Gloss. This is also the most important component as it offers the main protection against water and wearing of the surface.

Protector will shift the final colour of the finish and make it slightly darker.

For 5sqm, 0.835KG is included as part of the kit.

Protego Component B

Protego Component B is mixed together with Protego Component A. At least 2 thin coats must be applied in order to complete the application. If any spare is available, we recommend doing a further coat to enhance the level of protection. Multiple thin coats are better, than less, thicker coats.

For 5sqm, 0.165KG is included as part of the kit.
