Luciano Polished Plaster
Luciano is an elegant, extremely refined high-gloss polished plaster, suitable for Venetian plaster features or larger areas, like complete walls and ceilings. With great colourability, workability and superior gloss this plaster is arguably the highest level of modern smooth decorative plasters and can be considered the spiritual successor to the modern Venetian plasters devised by the famous architect, Carlo Scarpa.
Luciano can be applied on a variety of surfaces like gypsum plaster (multi-finish), plasterboard and paints straight after a coat of smooth primer.
Before you use Luciano you must apply Universal Primer as a base. Once this finish is completed, you should protect the plaster using Impera Wax. The correct appliance for Luciano is a Venetian plastering trowel.
Impera Italia’s Advice™
Due to it’s enhanced formulation, Luciano is arguably the most suitable polished plaster for a multi-coloured ‘marble effect’. It’s use is also warranted if durability is a key requirement.
Luciano is named in honour of Luciano Pavarotti, one of the most famous Italian operatic tenors of the 20th century. His outdoor concerts at the Baths of Caracalla in Rome, in London’s Hyde Park, on the Great Lawn of New York’s Central Park and in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower in Paris are still fondly remembered.
A: No, not as it is. This plaster was created for interior features where it can’t get in contact with water and needs industrial-grade protection for wet rooms. Please discuss your project requirements with one our technicians.
Q: Can Luciano be applied on floors?
A: No, this product should not be put on floors.
Q: How durable is this Venetian plaster?
A: It can endure many more scratches and mechanical effects than other, similar plasters on the market; it creates a stone-like, durable and flexible finish. On the other hand due to it being a decorative effect only and the thinness of the complete application it’s advisable to protect it. If you are looking for enhanced durability for commercial or industrial projects, please contact our sales team.
Q: How accurate are your colours of this Venetian plaster?
A: Colours are mixed with industrial colouring methods, are accurate and repeatable. Due to the natural nature of the materials please make sure to buy a tester to see the final, applied colour before ordering a larger quantity.
Q: What type of primer do I need for this polished plaster? Is PVA suitable?
A: PVA shouldn’t be used. The thinness and structure of these decorative finishes requires a special primer; only primers formulated for these special finishes will ensure the right level of bonding and provide you with a high-level look.
Q: What should we do when we want to repaint the wall?
A: Luciano should be sanded and primed to prepare the surface for new finishes.
Q: Do I need a specialist to apply this Stucco?
A: Please see the application difficulty. We would advise you to get trained or contact a specialist to apply this finish.
Q: How long can this plaster be stored?
A: This ready-mixed plaster retains it’s quality for at least a year when it’s stored according the conditions presented on the datasheet.
