Powderstone

Powderstone is a natural lime-based Plaster sold as a powder, that can be used to create various effects, from natural-looking finishes to textured effects with a single coat application.

The richness and quality of the lime in Powderstone will enable you to create great finishes with a strong resistance to mould and bacteria. Powderstone has great workability and maintains the permeability of the surface thanks to its important resistance to water vapour. Powderstone contains fibres inside that allow it to be applied in good thickness while still maintaining resistance to cracking.

If you are planning to apply Powderstone outdoors, you should use Marcotherm Primer. For indoor projects, you can use Unifix Primer.

Powderstone can be covered using metallic paints (Gimcyn, Gimcyn Chroma, Gimcyn Luxury, Infinity, Sioloc, Sioloc Suede, Tintoretto) or a colour wash (Lime Eco for indoors, or Velature for outdoors) to achieve different finishes and effects to suit different design preferences and applications.

If you wish to re-create the Roccia Rustica finish without using any metallic paint, or colour wash, please make sure to ask for a pre-coloured primer. You can do so by contacting our sales team at [email protected]

How to Apply Powderstone

When applying Powderstone, you should apply Unifix Primer first and leave it to dry for 4 to 6 hours.

The product needs to be diluted with 4-5L of water for each 15KG bag.  If you decide to order coloured Powderstone, disperse the pigments into the water by stirring manually. It is important that the pigments are dispersed into the mixing water beforehand.

Use an electric mixer at low speed until Powderstone is completely homogenized. Once this is done, let it sit for a few minutes.

Then you can apply a coat of Powderstone as the look requires.

Once the finish has dried completely, it should be protected with Impera Matt (for indoors)  Decorfilm Lucido or Opaco (for outdoors). The tool for applying Powderstone is our Venetian plastering trowel.

Impera Italia’s Advice™

The product has excellent workability for around 2 hours after it is mixed. for this reason, we recommend only mixing the amount required for application during this period. After 2 hours, it will begin to harden and become less flexible.
